Nonprofit Spotlight: Wesley House Student Residence

Wesley House Student Residence (WHSR) has been assisting students achieve their academic goals at San Diego State University since 2005. WHSR is the only below market affordable housing provider exclusively for college students in the San Diego area and is an innovative example of how an institution can assist college students, particularly low-income and first-generation students, succeed at the university.

 

It is their goal to serve as a national model of affordable housing for low-income, homeless, foster, and first-generation college students, while building a national network of community partners to bring their model to colleges and universities across the country.

WHSR’s historical namesake, John Wesley, believed the following as a rule to live by:

 

Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.
